About the event
This workshop is the first in a series designed to expand the student's understanding of yoga from the perspectives of philosophy, energy, and of course physical practice. This is for the beginner yogi looking to delve a little deeper beyond a mat practice, and also for the more experienced practitioner who is ready to revisit foundational concepts for a stronger, more purposeful practice.
Based on popular demand, our first workshop will cover the following topics:
- Beginner Yoga Philosophy: intro to the 8 Limbs of Yoga per Patanjali's Yoga Sutras; taking your practice off the mat
- Chakras & Bandhas: an overview of subtle energy; understanding energy centers & utilizing energy "locks" to improve your practice & your health
- Asana: a closer look at sun salutations & select foundational poses for proper alignmment & technique
The workshop will last 2-½ to 3 hours and will include periods of study as well as physical practice to integrate what you're learning. All props and materials provided. Dress comfortably. Hot tea will be available.
